The moment we’ve all be waiting for is coming soon! The highly anticipated, all new 2022 Nissan Frontier will make its way to Fort Collins, Colorado and hopefully into your driveway later this summer. Production has just started at the Nissan Assembly Plant in Canton, Mississippi and we can’t wait to see them in person.

Exterior Design

Frontier 3/4 view

First, let’s talk design. The Nissan Frontier has sported the same body style since 2005. While it has stood the test of time quite well, most of us are ready to see a change after 16 years! We think Nissan completely nailed it with this re-design. It looks much more rugged with some subtle nods at the original Nissan Hardbody design. The aggressive front end with warrior style grille, chiseled hood and C-shaped LED headlights and daytime running lights is a big departure from previous generations. The rugged look is complimented by the wide, elevated stance and vertical fenders. Everything is modernized, both inside and out. There will be a wide array of color options, including the new Boulder Gray that we’ve seen on Rogue and Murano.

Interior

Frontier Interior

Inside, the modernized approach continues. The 2022 Frontier offers a best in class 9” touchscreen with standard Apple Car Play and Android Auto. It also has a largest in class 7” drier assist display, which is fully configurable to offer the info you care about most, which can change depending on your driving conditions. Whether you need to parallel park or are hitting tight trails, the Around View Monitor with off-road mode allows you to navigate without a second set of eyes. Just like on the exterior, there are some new color options on the interior, like Sandstone and the Pro 4-X Charcoal Gray with Lava Red accents throughout. Zero gravity seats now come standard as well, which provide lateral support and help reduce driver fatigue. Additional available tech includes built in WiFi, wireless charging and Fender premium audio. Added insulation throughout creates a quieter ride than ever before.

Capability

Mechanically, the 2022 Nissan Frontier comes standard with a 3.8L direct injections V6 engine with best in class 310 horsepower and 281 lb-ft torque! The 9 speed automatic transmission helps maximize powertrain efficiency and enhances acceleration. The ride is smoother thanks to a new rear stabilizer bar and hydraulic cab mounts. The new Frontier offers a maximum towing capacity of 6720 lb with standard trailer sway control on all models. If you need to haul but not enough to tow, take advantage of 1,610 lb max payload. Once you he’d into the bed, you’ll enjoy the previous loved spray in bed liner and useful utili-track system, and you’ll be sure to appreciate the new built in bed step, bed lights and 120v outlets.

Safety

Whether your truck is for work, play, or combination of both, you can drive the 2022 Frontier with confidence, knowing you have Nissan Safety Shield 360, which is available on every trim. This suite of advanced safety features includes Automatic Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Detection, Blind Spot Warning, High Beam Assist, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, lane Departure Warning and Rear Automatic Braking.

They say you shouldn’t fix what’s not broken, which is likely why we’ve seen so few chances in the Frontier over the past 16 years. However, Nissan really took this wonderful midsize truck to an entirely new level with this redesign! Stay tuned for release date, but we expect to see the 2022 Nissan Frontier here at Fort Collins Nissan late Summer 2021!
